For over three years, I worked as a Lead Consultant/Production Manager at a large , popular printing corporation. While I was there, I was always astonished by how much they marked up each product- on average, their printing paper is marked up 4,000%. For oversized projects, that number is around 4,700%. Those numbers apply to almost every product and service they offer. It's even $8 to click "fit to page" while printing if it's not already "document sized". They charge double-sided documents as two separate pieces of paper, even though the only extra expense for double-sided printing is the ink for the backside. That means double-sided projects are technically marked up even more!

Every day, I secretly undercharged because I thought it was gross to take advantage of ordinary people with ordinary salaries- the "nickel and diming" they did bothered me A LOT.

Then, a thought: it's more than possible to turn a decent profit while charging MUCH less. Corporations charge what they do because they can, not because they have to. Thus, an business idea!

I hemmed and hawed for a couple years, but it stuck in my head. When I wanted a simple art print at a specific size (12x17), I found it very hard to find a place to just do it. That was the last straw, this industry is way too easy to be making things that hard.
